I'm a Wolf Therian, meaning (I believe and feel) I have the soul of a wolf. So this song and singing it came from my soul and I mentally shifted to a wolf (became the wolf in my mind) while singing it... It was very intense. I was tearing up. Maybe because my father and mother split up when I was 2. My father had troubles and killed himself when I was 12. I feel if this song doesn't move you in some way, you have NO soul at all. Human or otherwise! Remember folks your children are a gift from God, don't EVER take them for granted! Love them always!

My parents never got along, so my dad often left instead of arguing. Until 2010 every moment I got to spend with my dad was rare. And I was a kid so I'm sure it is partially exaggerated, but he often was gone between work and avoiding arguments. After they divorced I get to see him a lot more, but it feels like he missed a lot of my childhood.

I think of my two sons every time I hear this song as well as the movie the River Runs Through It. Reminds me of my own childhood. My wife and I departed after 24 years. There is not a day that goes by that I regret. Our sons now 23 and 27. They both have bachelor of science degrees and we are so very proud. I look in the comments and see parents being sepparated from their children for 3weeks+ and even months, the court should allowed enough time to have a relationship with ones daughter/son. Or its just wrong, its alienizing parents that have to be separated from their child... wrong :(.

This is one of the most emotional inducing songs I've ever heard, reminds me of when I was about 5 years old my parents separated. And now I'm 16 and just look back at the memories we had together. Now my dad lives 400 miles/8 hours away, and I only get to see him about 3-4 times a year depending on if he has the money to come and get me. This song helped me get through my life as I was younger and would just like to thank Zac Brown Band for releasing their talent of singing and performing this song for all the kids who have gone through what they have, or are still going through.
