I can't be so sure you've listened to Van der Graaf Generator, then.

i hear the difference betweem American and English proggressive rock music. Tough to compare which is better... both works IMO.

I love this band. These extremely fast and complex bands were hard to find in the US at that time (and still kinda are today).

Holy Smokes, another band that sound(ed) at least somewhat like the eternal Gentle Giant!

Best American prog band ever, period!

Some Yes and Gentle Giant influences too. Almost sounds like a killer outtake from Drama (or Free Hand).

Nahh, these guys aren't copping Yes. Truthfully, they resemble Starcastle a little, and they were slavish Yes copy band. But only resemble because of the vocals. This is a rock raveup song and it's still all over the place, hemiola grooves, insane keyboard breaks, time changes out the wazoo. I'd really love to see the lyrics to a song called "Give 'Em Some Rawhide Chewies," LOL! Tempo changes by section, too. My only quibble is that their structures don't seem very overarchingly organized

Sorry to break it to you, but their vocalist passed away in 2008. :( Apparently the whole band was back together for Nearfest 2004, but we don't have any recordings of the show...

don't know whether it is true or NOT, but there have been rumours about a re-union. btw: when will anybody upload the best song on this album, To-ta in the moya? :)
