Well, Paul, the tune really lends itself to strings, sorry. It's melancholy and somewhat blue and violins are always involved in that, sorry again, Paul. However, it's a brilliant work of art and cheers to you, Paul!

Hahaha! How ironic! The idea that Yesterday had a string quartet was George Martin's idea pretty much to the reluctance of Paul McCartney because he did NOT want 'to sound like Mantovani'!!! He hated his sound. Martin's arrangement was superbly beautiful and so Paul went along with it.
