I don't understand. It's wrong that kids become Straight Edge because CM Punk is Straight Edge? Isn't that the point? You are sXe(I hate using this but I also hate spelling it out all the time) to show people that you don't need to change who you are by inebriating or hurting yourself. Whether it's a Hardcore Punk band, an Emo/Screamo band, or a Hip-Hop artist promoting the culture and lifestyle, or a professional wrestler doing it, it shouldn't matter. It's all about educating the masses.

Why all the hate? There's no rule that says that you have to listen to Hardcore Punk to be Straight Edge. You can listen to whatever you want to, whatever music you enjoy or makes you feel good, and be Straight Edge. You don't even have to listen to Straight Edge bands to follow their beliefs. @Yousuck00 When I'm angry, I'll listen to hardcore. When I need inspiration, I'll listen to this. Yes music should have talent, but for people like me, it should also convey genuine emotion and pride. Straightedge hardcore pushes me to believe in myself and without it, I would still be the ignorant piece of shit that I was. It may not mean shit to you, but it means a lot to me. Yeah, progressive is great too, but Hardcore and Progressive are two COMPLETELY different genres.
