He had a mighty talent, truly wish he was still around! Don't know where Martin Del Ray is now, but really love his music also.

As much as I like the guy, he really only had 3 or 4 real hit songs. This one did pretty well, but "It's Such a Pretty World" and "Another Day Another Dollar" were about it. Maybe a couple more got some play but not enough.

There's no doubt that some of Mooney's intro and turnaround from this song found it's way into Rainy Day Woman - many years later. Not all of it, but a lot. Most of the people that have listened to Rainy Day Woman have probably never heard Mooney playing on this. This is great music!

In 1985, he was embarking on a comeback tour after years of obscurity, when he suddenly died of a heart attack. For those who fondly remember Wynn Stewart, his unique voice and singing style will not be emulated.

Wynn worked for a short time at KVEG Raio in Las Vegas where I was a deejay. I think this was a Challenge label record. It got the attention of capitol. He had a greta band with Jim Pierce on piano and for awhile Bobby Austin played bass with him. Great old record.
