he didn't look like he suffered unduly during the dust bowl, rather, he made his name singing about it.

My father just died yesterday, he chose this as his funeral song ...I don't understand all the political comments and mud-slinging, it's offensive anddoes not belong here and has nothing to do with the original sentiment and lyrics

Ironically, your the one who seems unamerican to me. The USA is a place where people are suppossed to have the freedom to believe what they want, even if they disagree with the government and the media. Totalitarianism/fascism is probably the least American ideology, so you have no room to tell people to leave the country. Nevertheless, even fascists should have the right to live in the US, and even though I disagree with you, I still think you have just as much right to live here as I do.

Yea some of the happiest, most well fed and productive countries on the planet are socialist democracies. Switzerland, Finland, Norway, etc...

Actually free markets (not to be confused with capitalism as seen in the US) allow for communism to exist. Ironically enough pure capitalism (free market) and pure communism have the same goal. For instance, in the rise of the American Middle class, most people had houses and fences due to the postwar boom. But given our current breed of capitalism is more akin to 1900-30s era capitalism and not 1940-60s era, policies tend to favor the rich. Not disagreeing with you, just elaborating.
