I played bass when Jon was the singer, he did suck live, Tim was in She Is A Liar who we toured with a lot so he was already a close friend to the band, so after i left and they kicked jon out it made sense for him to take that spot.

(IMO) Metal should always have awesome melodic solos, thats one of the main sounds that gets me to enjoy it more.

@MrSmr2010 they do that on purpose so you know what theyre saying easier and are audible. They experimemt range sometimes. New Holy War is a good example

Their vocals are awesome. This band is perfect the way they are.

I understand where you're coming from but if they can't find someone who has a better range and who can do it live then they should find someone else. The band would sound sooo much better with some shrieking highs and gutteral lows ect in the mix. i reckon this guy could probably do them if he tried. Its a waste of a sick band imo. I barely listen to them cause the vox sound similar to the same pretty much all the way through. If the vox were better id be cranking them a lot more.

He's still got range, it's just that he's really found his comfort zone with those relaxed, exhaled mid-ranged growls. He wants to be able to track songs that sound great, but have the potential to be played live without sacrificing the quality of their sound in comparison to the studio recordings of the songs. I'm sure that he just really enjoys that naturally style because it's gonna be easy to produce well night after night, and why would you want to front your band as the weak link?

So, apparently, a lot of people that visit this page aren't very good at doing incredibly basic fucking research: Rafael Gonzales – vocals (2004-2006) Jon Grande – vocals (2007–2009) Tim Goergen – vocals (2009–present) I already knew these things because I have interest in the band. Within The Ruins features at least one release of decent significance with each one of these vocalists, and nowhere on this page have I seen mention of the band going through three different vocalists.

Your all dumb, same exact vocalist. Seen these guys live before then even had fame. And it's been the same group since

His exact words about the old vocalist is "he was alright lol truth is they put a lot of distortion and shit on his voice to make it sound like that. When I first joined the band they showed me raw tracks with Jon and I couldnt believe what I was hearing. That and he sucked live. Thats why they got me."
