Sadly,"Misty Blue" composer Bob Montgomery passed away on Dec 4th 2014. Bob was an icon in the country music field and started his career singing in duo with his high school friend, the late Buddy Holly. R.I.P. Bob...and thank you for the music.

Gorgeous voice. Stumbled upon her through the Patsy Cline connection -- glad I did!

Just beautiful,a real shame she didn't get in the mainstream of country musicfor reasons that was nobodies business.

This was released in Baltimore in the summer of 1967, I was 14 years old! It was a good year for crossover country music, Tammy Wynette, Dottie West, it is a shame she had to go through the stuff she went through, just because she was gay!

Wilma Burgess was an exceptionally talented country singer, as this song proves but, unfortunately, was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was openly gay in Nashville at a time when it was scandalous, unacceptable behavior. She was supposed to get this song released as a single but it was given to a bigger star...Eddy Arnold. In addition, she was to have Don't Touch Me released but it went to Jeannie Seely because her husband, Hank Cochran, wrote the song. Imagine what she could have given us if circumstances were different.

Her timing is different and very good.I think this is the prettiest version of the song I've ever heard

Found my way here from wikipedia after checking out the history of the song. I'd never heard of Wilma Burgess before (sorry US country fans - she isn't known in the UK mainstream). I've now listened to this 4 times in 15 minutes - there's a definite 'something' to this version that I can't put my finger on. It deserves to be better known.

Yes she was cheated out of stardom and definitely didn't get the recognition she so deserved but for those of us that KNEW her she was a superstar in our hearts and minds. Wilma was a fabulous lady and a dear close friend of our family and I grew up calling her Aunt all my life and the same with her momma. God rest both of their souls.

Charlie I miss Wilma too and Arlene just as much. My family and I have spent many nights down at the old Cline homestead that she owned. My father's name was Ken Allen and him and Wilma were very, very good friends and dad use to work her on a lot of shows.

Wilma was the original on this song. Everyone else came after her.

Joe, Did you play along the time that Johnny Hawke played guitar and Gus was on drums. We used to call him the Headhunter because of the plastic shrunken heads he kept on his drums. My dad, Ken Allen, was very good friends with Wilma. Spent many nights at her house when she owned Patsy Cline's old house. She was a wonderful lady and so was her momma Arlene. 2 of the sweetest women you'd ever want to meet.

One of the all-time great 1960s country music songs-vocals, music arrangement, etc. A winner!

@wiswain My wife passed away recently and had owned a bedroom set that was given to her by Wilma. My understanding is that Wilma acquired it with the home she purchased from Patsy Cline's Estate so many years ago. Wish someone had pictures of Patsy's house interior or her bedroom so I couuld confirm this. If you run into anyone who might have some pictures or information, please let me know. Thanks for reading this.

I've been a fan of Dorothy Moore's version of this song for years and only found out, literally tonight, that this is the original version - I love her voice and how unique the two versions sound. Great music!
