En diciembre de 2007, lanzó su álbum debut, *Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo*, que incluyó demos grabados por él desde 1992 hasta 2007. Lanzó su segundo álbum como solista,* Alone II: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo*, en noviembre de 2008. *Alone III: The Pinkerton Years* está programado para ser lanzado en 2011. *Rivers Cuomo* nació el 13 de junio de 1970 en Nueva York, y creció en la comuna hippie de Yogaville, Connecticut. Fue guitarrista de los grupos de heavy metal, *Avant Garde y Zoom*, y líder vocalista de *Homie* (o la *"Rivers Cuomo Band"*).Inició su carrera en la banda de *progressive metal, Avant Garde*. Con esta banda se mudaría a Los Ángeles, California, ciudad donde más tarde formaría la banda que lo lanzaría a la fama, *Weezer*.En 1990 *Avant Grade*, para ese tiempo ya llamado *Zoom*, se separaría dando lugar a que *Rivers* formara *Sixty Wrong Sausages*, una agrupación previa a *Weezer* que contaría con los miembros originales de la banda *Patrick Wilson, Matt Sharp y Jason Cropper*, poco tiempo después el 14 de febrero de 1992 cambiarían su nombre a *Weezer* y el camino a la fama inciaría.*Rivers* es y ha sido siempre el motor lírico de *Weezer*, todas las canciones que se han grabado han sido escritas o co-escritas por él.En 1995 *Rivers* inicia su carrera en Artes en la Universidad de Harvard, carrera que le tomaría 11 años terminar, siendo el 2006 el año de su graduación.
