Volume up please.This piece was inspired by current (May, 2011) situations in the Middle East, in particular Libya and Syria and the problems of war, terrorism and religious extremists common to numerous countries in that region of the world. In particular worry is the death of innocent civilians. While I had originally intended to show more graphic photos of two protesters killed in Libya and Syria, I decided against doing so. However, in America we are not shown the results of bombs and bullets on our "enemies," much less on our own soldiers or innocent civilians. This sanitizing of the graphic horror of violence allows American's to worry about nothing more than who was voted off of American Idol. This is not "reality." We can't handle the truth. - Apologies to Germany. Your country has banned this piece for the music.

This song has nothing to do with the middle east. It is about Christian America who practices ANYTHING but real Christianity or who follow or even know the true admonition o Christ. Give me an atheist any day....even a cold blooded one. Christian hypocrisy turns my stomach! While the rich eat like the Gods in our major cities the poor struggle and perish. I think your video perfectly captures the pain and empty loneliness of an alienation from God. Rickie Lee Jones sounds completely lost and I would say that those who perpetrate terrorism are lost, as well. Perhaps the prayer I would offer up in this world - "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
