Hello independent artists, musicians, painters, writers, comedians, actors, directors...artisan pencil-makers? All of you! Yes, YOU! Welcome to #CreativeLife our documentary art project exploring the many facets of living a creative life in this often times crazy, digital, hashtag filled world we live in today. In Episode 1 we interview artists asking the "What Are You Good At?"
First off, thank you so much for actually taking the time to read a SteamyintheCity video description! And since you have read all the way to this point, then we can comfortably assume that you have an appreciation for the fact that a human being took the time to write this whole thing out--and you are exactly the type of person we made #CreativeLife for!
Sure, you might know that every “completed” project that exists out there (new music videos, new books, new films, new songs, ect.) isn’t just a “one-off” effort. You know all too well that art is always the result of endless late nights, re-writing, rendering, filming, planning, and of course starting all over again from scratch. But the rest of the world? People with “normal” jobs? They probably don’t think about art like that. Not really.
The idea behind #CreativeLife is simple: #CreativeLife pulls people of all disciplines together to explore the facets of living creative life through the old-fashioned process of question and answer (kind of like The Real World, but with people who have actually talented/sober people). Each episode will feature a new question, and new responses from our core SteamyintheCity artists, which included musicians, graphic designers, writers, filmmakers, and comedians.
But you know what? Despite #CreativeLife’s simple design, we are thrilled to say we have come out on the other end of this first season with a great deal of vulnerable and exciting content that leaves us all with much to discuss! Case-in-point, our first episode, which centers around a deceptively complicated question to answer: “What are you good at?”
“What are you good at?” isn’t the same thing as “What do you do?” or “What do you love to do?” It is a question that asks for more than just “information” or an opinion. A person needs confidence to answer this question, and some might even say that an artist shouldn’t answer this question at all. What do you think? Or better yet, what are YOU good at? Let us know!!!
