RIFF

Boy, boy, crazy boy,

Get cool, boy!

Got a rocket in your pocket,

Keep coolly cool, boy!

Don't get hot,

'Cause man, you got

Some high times ahead.

Take it slow and Daddy-O,

You can live it up and die in bed!

Boy, boy, crazy boy!

Stay loose, boy!

Breeze it, buzz it, easy does it.

Turn off the juice, boy!

Go man, go,

But not like a yo-yo schoolboy.

Just play it cool, boy,

Real cool!

Arab : David Winters / Baby John: Eliot Field / Ice : Tucker Smith / Action : Tony Mordente / Graciela : Gina Trikonis . These are the names I can recall. They ALL hated JR by the time this scene was completed, but they all admitted he got the best they could give. All had to have ballet background , in some form or other. Remember, Bob Fosse & his style of dancing was still 2nd to JR & " Jazz Ballet". Wolfsky9

West Side Story- greatest dance film ever. Period. I don't care what anyone says. No other musical has so successfully captured such epic sequences. This, Mambo, America. Cinematic nirvana!!!!!!!!! WSS all the way!!!!!!!!!!

Whoever thought to change the songs is brilliant. The first half of the movie has a much lighter tone, which Gee Officer Krumpke fits in better, in my opinion. The energy in this song and situation after the rumble and Riff's death flow so perfectly. These guys have all this anger inside them that they don't know what to do with; just "be cool". Also this choreography is NUTS. Probably the best choreography I've seen in any movie.

The role of Ice was created specifically for the movie. The actor did play Riff at other times in the play, as well as other Jets. He absolutely kills it.

Arguably one of the best pieces of dance ever choreographed for the big screen. The genius of Jerome Robbins and Leonard Bernstein seem to be non-existent in today's entertainment world, and we're flooded with the tawdry pap from the likes of Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.Only the made-for-television videos of Michael Jackson come close, and those are now almost 40 years old.

This dance routine has influenced so many dancers today, it's crazy! You can see parts of this in almost every music video that has dance sequences.

I feel bad for the kid who played Baby John, because in the filming of this scene he was sick, I believe with walking pneumonia, and he actually collapsed in the middle of the scene. If you watch his face, you can tell he was sick. Poor baby <3

Always liked Tucker Smith..died too soon. Never got to do what he should have in Hollywood. Don't know why. He's really TERRIFIC in this dance sequence.
