Take a trip with us back 100 years in the past, as we see a recording session as it would have been done back then. The Semper Phonograph Company ventured out to the South Austin home of Dylan Blackthorn to record the klezmer band, Mazel Tov Kocktail Hour. It was a memorable afternoon, as the talented musicians crowded (and I mean CROWDED) around the horn, the strains of their music vibrating the air molecules all around, creating the immortal grooves cut onto the spinning metallic soap that is a wax cylinder. This was recorded music in its purest form and the results were haunting. Now, the Semper Phongoraph Company provides a window into this historical session, viewed as the recording engineer himself would have. It's certainly a rare view into the past and one that is truly authentic.
