Simon wasn't being overly critical of Vonzelle. This is coming from a person who voted for her several times throughout the competition, even on top 3 night. She just wasn't in the same league as Bo and Carrie. You also have to consider, just the year before, there was LaToya, JHud and Fantasia. Vonzelle doesn't come close to them in terms of vocal ability.

I really hated Simon this season for almost always never giving Von her due credit. Sometimes Vonzell's notes don't always hit the mark, but this WAS a perfect vocal.

she is the reason why i stopped watching idol all together. I personally think that she deserved to win. true talent. i love you Vonzell, even after all of these years. i remember turning on idol to watch it with my family. you were my favorite. i love you!

ok. It's not Simon. She is trying to do things that her voice cant do. Vonzell is not a belter. But she tries anyway and that's why it sounds strange. Jennifer Hudson=belter and it's amazing.
