I know it looks like a gospel song but Conor said he's agnostic (or atheist) (search for villagers band atheism in Google) so this music isn't about God (or it was written when he was still in doubt perhaps), also in the same album there's "Ship Of Promises" which pretty much describes atheist experience + Earthly Pleasure, Grateful Song, In A Newfound Land You Are Free. I've seen other atheist using Christian metaphors and even word God (The Cardigans - Holy Love) so that wouldn't be uncommon.10 years ago
