Kander & Ebb's great song, "Mister Cellophane" (from the Broadway musical CHICAGO), performed June 12, 2004, at the Geauga Lyric Theatre Guild's 50th Anniversary Gala, with Jo Downing at the piano.

I love the lady who introduces me - Martha Vail (my mother). She makes a reference to her "Older Patrick," which - out of context - you may not understand. Years ago, we were both in the Geauga Lyric Theatre Guild's production of "MAME" - with Mom playing Mame, and me in the role of Older Patrick. She was a terrific Mame. Being on stage with her in that show is a highlight of my life.

I've heard this song sung at least a hundred times... This is the first time I cried... Magnificent!

If you have performed Sometimes a Day Goes By, I hope you will post it. Having now heard several of your videos, I find you have the talent of expressing both subtlety and depth of feeling. The performances gives primacy to the song and not to an overblown singer. I'll watch again for more lessons on breathing, phrasing, and the use of the pause.

Thank yo for this upload! I know it has been up for years now, but this is the first time seeing it. I'm hoping to snag the role of Amos for a local theatre group, and wanted to brush up on this particular song. I've personally felt like "Mister Cellophane" most of my life, and so it has always been personal since the day I first heard it. The points where you hold back is very similar to how I want to do it, and glad I've found your masterpiece for some guidance. Thanks again!

You R SOOOOOO not "Mr. Cellophane".............. ...........because with U standing there starting to sing NOBODY would look right through you! Guess, everyone would stop his world for a few minutes to listen! This is what emotional performance with singing right from the heart away is about!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!

This man has a wonderful voice, but I favor John C. Reily's voice and emotion over his.

@kaycade I still think John C. Reily did a fantastic job singing this song in the movie. This man has a beautiful voice, but Reily's voice really brought out the character Amos.
