The Victor Feldman Trio - featuring Rick Laird on bass and the criminally underrated Ronnie Stephenson on drums - go 'Swinging On A Star' in 1965. Infectious, happy jazz.

My parents used to speak about Victor Feldman, having admired this precocious young drummer in the bands to which they danced in the 40s. I first came across the name (again) on Miles Davis's 'Quiet Nights' and wondered if it could be the same artist. Finding him again on Barney Kessel and, of course, Steely Dan records, plus on his own work, confirmed this to be the case. A very, very fine musician, and, it seems, a very likable man who passed away too soon. Thanks for uploading.

First brit to collaborate with a jazz master? In 1963?. C'mon. You telling me Duke didn't play with any brits when he went there 1933 and no one else did in the interim?

@ Peter Campbell.Talk about giving your age away. I used to sit in along side Ronnie Stephenson in a jazz club over the Tatler cinema on Northumberland St. Newcastle. That must have been 1950ish ! Sadly Ronnie died but Im still drumming. Didnt he have a brother Bobb a talented pianist?

I like Victor on the vibes a lot! I'd have to say that my fave xylophone and vibe player though, is Roy Ayers. :)
