This is from the Star Trek : Deep Space Nine episode "7x15 : Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang", at the end where James Darren and Avery Brooks sing a little duet. Like most of Darren's songs, it's a Sinatra tune.

The episode was alright. Certainly trying to be very comedic right before the nine part finale which was, for the most part about depressing matters. An impressive segue.

An interesting note: until about 25 minutes into the episode, Sisko absolutely hated this period in time, and he thought Vic's program was stupid. It begs the question: How the hell does Sisko know the words?!

I might post more Vic Fontaine songs some day soon (because there's none on YouTube), but I might get banned by Viacom or something. Whatever!

Punches Q in the face, builds a ship that kills Borg, AND has a singing voice that'd woo fangirls away from Tom Hiddleston? THIS my friends is the reason why "Sisko" is the correct answer to Kirk vs. Picard.

Sisko hated the program -- and the era -- because black men and women were often treated like 2nd & 3rd class citizens in those kinds of establishments, at least on old Earth. Based on what was shown of Sisko throughout the series, he never harbored any hatred for jazz/lounge style music in general. The holodeck, however, doesn't subscribe to racism, which is why I think Sisko eventually came to accept the program. Vic Fontaine and his program gave a glimpse at the way it should have been, instead of the way it was on Earth in that era.

you asked how Ben knew the song, he did did grow up in New Orleans, he was probably exposed to a lot of old time swing as well as southern jazz.

I wish someone had told Bashir and O'Brien that, in the early 60s, it was the epitome of rudeness for a man to wear a hat indoors. (And it should still be considered rude now.)

Oh man, Darren and Brooks are awesome in this.Vic Fontaine was a fine addition to DS9. I enjoyed the episodes with him. I mean, he helped Kira and Odo start a relationship (which in turn showed a side of Kira we haven't seen much: A caring and understanding one), he helped with Nog's trauma from AR-558 and Vic's friends in turn help him in getting his lounge back. This again (for me at least) conveys the message that friendships shouldn't know boundaries. And I have the impression, even if it isn't really shown or mentioned onscreen, that Sisko has more or less come to terms with the rassistic past of the USA and his experiences from "Far Beyond the Stars" (or has at least realized that things could've been different back then) by volunteering to help Vic.
