Used to hear this on WNEW 1130 from New York. I really miss that station.

Too bad 21st & Wentworth is non existent. It's actually Chinatown, no signs of jazz there.

I heard this in later years...playing it on a "Music Of Your Life" formatted station....I had one hell of a time finding it on a "45". It came out in '67. Great Record. It really should have "charted".

Charles, was Joe Parnello, his accompanist and conductor for the show? What year? He was with Vic for many years since 1959, in Chicago, and beyond the late 70's. The last time t.hat I saw Joe was when I attended the Sinatra "L.A. Is My Lady" LP sessions in 1984. Joe arranged and conducted "How Do You Keep The Music Playing?" for Frank

Gary.....not a masterpiece for Vic, however, a great job. It is included in a CD that also features "Two For The Road," "It Makes No Difference," and others. I would have to go through over 1,000 CD's to find the exact title of it.

Frank was more articulate; he declared Vic as having "the greatest pipes," and Tony as the best "singer," (interpreter of songs), in the male category. However, as far as females were concerned, Frank, absolutely WORSHIPPED Ella and Jo Stafford (no slouch either)!!!!!!

@Charles Dreyfuss Hi Chuck! Wow! You not only played with Mr. Damone, you played THIS SONG!!! What was it like behind the man? And you say the chart was tough...if I may ask, how so? IMHO,strings sound like the only tricky part...but I wasnt reading the chart so what do i know! Was it a different 'live' chart or a studio knock? thx in advance! been homesick & playing this weekly :)

I was in a big band at Milwaukee's Festa Italiana and Damone was a feature. His show didn't include "South Side-Chicago" so I asked him about it. On the last day, having confidence in the band, he pulled it out. It is a bitch chart and tough but we read it cold it and it kicked. So, for the evening show he did it again as an encore and gave plaudits to the band. Chuck Howard

Dan, I love Sinatra also. I just dislike a few of his records like Chicago,Love and Marraige and New York,NY. Even Frank hated New York,NY and he also hated My Way.

Frank Sinatra always praised Vic & Tony as being a couple of the best in the business

I agree Gary this is a underplayed masterpiece, but I can't say nothing bad about Frank, not many can sing a Standard as good as He did, but that's the fun of music each ear has its own taste.....EAR CANDY

That stupid record by Frank Sinatra got all that airplay but this record is a masterpiece by Vic Damone. Disc jockeys should go to jail for not playing this record. Even hard core Vic Damone fans never heard this song and i think it's his best recording. I have this 45 but not in stereo.
