Very Happy Birthday to my dearest Jane at 89 who always graced our screens with infectious youthful beauty and charm.

Sadly, the talent of the MGM musicals and its galaxy of stars will never be seen again. The exquisite Jane Powell is still with us, though I felt Howard Keel would have been better suited than Damone for the song. Vic Damone would not reach film stardom than that of Keel but was equally successful on disc.

Jeanette MacDonald took Jane Powell under her wing at MGM, so it's wonderful to hear her sing this great song from Maytime. It's also nice to see it staged in a similar fashion in color. Jeanette's Maytime was originally to be in color but Louis B. Mayer vetoed it as too expensive.

What an exquisite two-some of a clip! They're all they should be; youth, beauty and in full-voice! I'm grateful to my knowledgeable friend Susan for having sent me this loving link! I know it well! Thank you Willem Hermann for posting!

ONE OF THE BETTER MOMENTS OF THIS FILM...MUSIC WAS FANTASTIC BUT THE DRAMATIC SCENES LASTED " FOREVER".... INCLUDING JOSE FERRER'S ATTEMPTS AT SINGING AND DANCING.....
