Last year on this day (when May 2 fell on Thursday), I played this song for Dad as we were gathered around him for his final night. Ever since I first heard "The Man Who Would Be Santa," it made me think of him. I even blogged about this fact for my "24 Days of Holiday Music" back in December 2012 (and I read that blog entry to Dad as part of his final journey as well). A year ago at this point in the evening, Dad's morphine drip had been going for 5 1/2 hours, and his vent must have been off for about 4 hours. The staff said he was so dependent on the vent that he would probably go quickly. They were wrong.So, I'm posting the video now because, you know, I'm thinking about him.
