Michael Hoppé composed this song and played it to Vangelis in 1986, who was visiting Los Angeles at the time. Then Vangelis played his version, the one you are listening here. Hoppé recorded that improvisation and presented it in his album "Solace", 17 years later. We are so glad he saved that beautiful moment in time for us.

True. It was an impromtu performance, recorded only by chance on a tape, of which it was later rescued. You can hear the sound processing used to remove noise and other problems. Because of that, this doesn't quite reach the hifi standards we are used to from Vangelis, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss this for the world...10 years ago
