i agree it does sound flat but i can tell due to the camera's quality trust me i saw them last october and they were amazing probably sounded even better than the studio versions go watch any other performances with higher sound quality on here and you will rest assured

I saw them live, singing this song, perfectly, and most of all, in such a beautiful touching way I can't still believe it, it was at Corona Capital, along with other amazing bands and artists such as Arctic Monkeys (the ones I went to the concert for in first place), and Jake Bugg, Portugal. The Man...huge bunch of good bands. But let me say, Vampire Weekend was by far the best performance, they sing, and play from the soul. So he didn't exactly got the note...whatever.

I love that everyone is talking about how Ezra missed a note. (a B4 by the way) That's a tough note, especially for a singer like him, with a very "in between" voice as far as range. I say he's got balls for even trying it live. A lot of people would just turn the mic to the crowd for a high note. Past that, he was only off at the start of it. By "trust" he hit it. Then he owned up to the fact that he couldn't do it and did the rest in falsetto. Good guy.

It's also real fucking difficult to sing perfectly on key with live stuff. Sounded like he just didn't hit a falsetto like he does on the album. Sounds more by choice than incapability.

Seen a few different performances of this song and (for this particular version at 2:58) he always seems to struggle with those higher notes and sings them a bit out of tune - still from what else I've seen they look like a good live band and I look forward to seeing them tomorrow night!

It doesn't sound to me as though we disagree at all. That "fullness" you mention isn't present because there's no bass frequencies. Lots of the instruments are hard to pick out too, because all instruments use low frequencies for their body and fullness, high frequencies are more like the texure of the sounds and cymbals, which often don't sound nice without the other stuff. Hopefully they'll bring out a live DVD with all that punchiness and instrumentation still present. :P

I disagree - I don't argue that they aren't giving their absolute best live; it's just that part appears to sound better studio recorded. The effect they put on Ezra's voice, the additional instruments/effects they're missing - it's just better. That's not to say they aren't amazing here; I just prefer the punchiness and fullness of the studio recording.

These sorts of comments really annoy me. You're not watching it live, you're watching it through someone's camera recording on youtube, you're also listening via the shitty mic on said camera, hence there's zero bass in the recording and it's just generally a shitty representation of the sound. It's not a fair comment to make and by the looks of it they are absolutely tearing it up live, so I disagree.
