A gradual awakening from such oppression in less than 50 years is instantaneous in comparison, and it is tacky to act as if it is irrelevant already, especially considering America is over 85% Christian and intolerant of non-Christians in general still today. People have the right to express opposition to Christianity, and acting as if it is cliche is itself a cliche tactic of dismissal.

@StarlightAU to be fair this is from 1993, during the early days of the genre. Also Western culture hasn't been free to express anti-Christian ideas until relatively recently. In earlier times, they would murder you for expressing yourself this way. For over a thousand years it was so.
