This song has a lot of meaning to me. Too bad I found it so late. I grew up in a small oil drilling camp in North Dakota. For the first eleven years of my life I lived in an 800sqft manufactured home with two brothers, my mother, my father and I. Dad only brought home about $500 a week and had to use that to buy food, pay bills, etc. A lot of winters without heat, a lot of summers without AC, and small meals. During that time my mother also had stage 1 liver cancer and without the proper funds for treatment she wasn't able to get it fixed until we moved to the gulf and by that time it was stage 3. When oil finally went up he was offered a job in the gulf and brought home almost triple what he was originally making. He did that until I turned sixteen and he was finally able to move back to his home town in NC which is where we reside now and my dad has a stable management position and my mother doesn't have cancer anymore. Wish I could have seen this guy live and help out the cause.
