Funny, McGeoch also played in Visage, and Robin stepped in when McGeoch left Magazine (there's a rather good concert from German television of that Magazine line up on YouTube...) In my mind Robin and John were cut from a very similar cloth, rather different from the usual, and very special guitarists amid the seas of punk/post-punk axe-wielders. If you see Robin soon, pass him this sentiment from a fan... He's a very special musical mind indeed! :)

Why indeed, Rob who is a good friend of mine is now playing with the current version of Visage. Unfortunately his talents are wasted in that setup. Someone needs to sign him up and use him to full effect.

Well, John Foxx has been working again with Robin these past few years; there is a rumour of John and Robin doing an album together. Currently, Robin just finished recording the new Visage album with Steve Strange and Steve Barnacle which gets released this month and then they are heading out to tour it live.

Although we may disagree on the guitar versus synth ground I do agree that Robin Simon was a special but underrated to the point of forgotten guitarist... The sounds he created seemed discordant to the point of not quite fitting, and yet it always seemed to work. More Robin Simon appreciation in order I reckon ;)
