Whoa! it's like he was just making up the lyrics on the spot as he was listening to the music. It's like a gift. Just amazing. Thank you!

There are few, very few artists who are so connected to the higher mind, so tapped in that each moment, lift and fall, trill and effect has meaning so great, so deep only the heart can understand. And if the head attempts to intercede, take over there is only confusion. Feel it and you will know it, all can be know. If you feel. Only .......... if you feel.

I'd drag my balls through 10 miles of piranha infested waters to have been at the studio when he improvised the best U2 song there is out of nothing

It's clearly not in reverse, nor were the lyrics improvised. Anyone who believes this has not really listened to it properly. Anyone not understanding it, is reading a poorly picked translation filled with errors. "Give away some my de day no" Lol No wonder you don't understand them.

"Elvis Presley and America", by U2, from the album 'The Unforgettable Fire', as released by Island Records, in 1984.

It's their acoustic song. It's also the culmination of and ultimate destination of Edge's guitar style so far at that point.

Beautiful Beautiful Song and My Goodness this LP changed My Life completely when I bought this album in September 1986 ... I played, played and played it and fell for these four lads with their Music ...

"Like 'Elvis Presley And America' was recorded in five minutes. Eno just handed me a microphone and told me to sing over this piece of music that had been slowed down, played backwards, whatever. I said, 'What, just like that, now?' He said, 'Yes, this is what you're about.' So I did it and when it was finished there were all these beautiful lines and melodies coming out of it." - Bono, NME 1984

Bono's words are just soothing chants that we're not meant to understand, very emotionally flawed which adds to a human nature most of us can relate to.. absolutely my favorite song that can sum up ones feelings of love and hate.

According to Wikipedia, the music is "A Sort of Homecoming" backwards. And that Bono was encouraged to improvise the lyrics over it. They used just the one take for the album. I like it more than any of the other songs on the album.
