Buona visione!

$900 bucks for a neck with true temperament frets with a tuner is pretty pricy.

How the hell does he play those harmonics? Does he just slap his fretting hand's finger on the string or what? 2:01

just a question...why steve vai doesn't give a fuck of this "true temperament"? I agree with the fact that guitars can't be in tune, it's true, scientific. So my question is: why aren't all the guitars in the world made whit this type of fretting? is it so expensive? is it so strange? is it so useless? if it can improve guitar's sound why no one uses this new "technology"?

Maybe his friend should come up with a better hair conditioner for him as well?

As far as dressing frets...the usual should be fine. An SOS pad without soap or any astringent used to dislodge any junk your hand has built up (mainly dead skin) should be formidable up to a point. Your fingers should keep the shape of the crown as you retard the grime and replacement of your frets depending on usage will be anywhere from two to three years. Your fretboard will be needing help in three to five years but I don't swear by that as mine is fine at fifteen. Depends on the type of wood and treatment.

Not rubbish as he shows factual information, however part of the fun of guitar is the magic of your fingers and how you apply pressure to the chords to create your own intonation. Perhaps he has perfect pressure throughout his left digits electing the need for such mathematics. I on the other hand delight in knowing I and my instrument are as closely related as possible and we together are like a cat on a fence, waiting for each other to slip and to see how we can recover together and make things work. I love IA and his inspired translation of the instrument. God bless and inspire!

This guy is selling rubbish, or at least misrepresenting reality. You cannot fix the problems of equal-temperament in one key without necessarily making things worse in another key.The equal-tempered major third is significantly sharp (by ~14 cents) relative to the pure major third (a 5:4 frequency ratio). Let's say you fix the major thirds in the key of E major by flatting G# by 14 cents. Now an E major chord sounds much better! Then you try playing in the key of C#, the 5th scale degree of which is G#. In equal-temperament, the 5th interval is flat by ~2 cents relative to the pure fifth (3:2 ratio). But you just tuned all the G# notes down by 14 cents. Your perfect 5th interval in C# is now flat by 16 cents and sounds horrible! There is no solution to this problem; making one key better necessarily makes other keys worse. If you plan to play in all keys, equal-temperament is still the best compromise available.

What about bends? Won't they be harder to do right?

So are these frets calibrated for only one type of tuning (Say E standard)? Or can you tune your guitar in any way you want (Drop C, Open D, etc) without having to change the positions of the frets?

This is superb but how will you dress the frets when they wear out?
