These videos should be called, "Matt Heafy attempts to impress John Petrucci to no avail"   :p

Petrucci and Satriani have the same slightly sarcastic compliment every time they say ''cool'' and ''i like it''... you almost feel like they don't really mean it  HAHA...remember, these Masters have massive egos, they really feel uncomfortable praising fellow guitar players....OR if they do, they NEVER mention their contemporaries at all, it's always that old guy as their inspiration, Blackmore and Hendrix gets mentioned alot!  ....''I like it'' really means ''That's too easy''

Matt Heafy owes a lot of his rhythm playing from Metallica's ...And Justice for All album

Wow this man on the left is very colorful and his muscles are much tensed up. Must be tough work to impress the man on the right.

The thing about playing guitar is not that it's super technical or difficult, but making a riff, lick or whatever work in a song. So everybody who says ''john petrucci is waaay better than Heafy'' has no clue what music is all about. In the words of Tenacious D:''It doesn't matter if it is good, It only matters if it rocks.''

Matt has some cool techniques no doubt but when he shows them off sitting next to John Petrucci it's like watching a kid trying to impress his dad.

Petrucci telling Matt all the stuff he plays sounds cool while pretending to be impressed, classic!  Like JP said, all of Matts stuff is only good enough to be a warm up exercise for him.

Matt has always used Les Pauls apart from one album where he used a Dean Razorback.. His signature is in fact an Epiphone.

Well hes hardly going to have the time, nor is there the need, to set up his complete rig for this video.

I know this is a 10 month old comment, but really, Matt does downpick exceptionally fast and tight anyways :)

I mean hes style isnt all that personal. He just does alot more downpicks. Almost every punk band does that:P and in faster speeds aswell.
