I guess the most know part is destorted guitars and dudes with long hair. ;) Totally agree with you, TheColdHeritage just sounded like screams and growls are something new. I just wanted to make clear it`s not. Beyond that I like almost all kinds of metal and couldn't care less about sub-genres. If it sounds great, I`ll listen to it. :)10 years ago

uhm you know that e.g. Within Temptation or Nightwish are Metal too? Metal is a huge genre with an amount of sub-genres. It contains melodical music like classical elements and it contains Screaming and grownling but at least its not all about screaming an growning and its NOT a huge part. Its just the most known part of metal.10 years ago

Screaming and grownling has been a huge part of metal in the last two decades. Even your beloved Paradise Lost started out as a deathmetal band without using any clean vocals. Nothing new to "screamo metal", those metalcore bands just altered the pitch...10 years ago
