A Tribute to Occupy Wall Street.
On Monday night when I got home from work I thought I would make a video in honor of the protesters. I could not get the image out of my head of the students at UC Davis getting peppered sprayed and wanted to express how I was feeling. Up here in the mountains we are dealing with the same issues as the rest of the country. But there is no protesting here and most of us our dealing with the issues here and have not been watching or paying attention to everything that's been going on. As I pulled each picture from the internet I began to realize the scope of what I was seeing! The news reports that I did watch made it sounds like it was just a bunch of young's partying in tents leaving trash and causing problems. What I did not see in the news reports was that it was all 99% of us. Everyone of us is represented. As I was building the slide show putting the pictures into their placement I began to cry. I am not a real emotional person but what was unfolding in front of my eyes was effecting me and I cried several times during the making of the video. I hoped that if it had this effect on me then it would on others. I found myself getting angry at the police officers for the brutally I was seeing. Then I would feel how sad for them they are part of the 99% and they are our brothers, sisters, moms, dads. I did not seeing any of the 1% out there. Just police against protester or brother, against brother. The songs lyrics were written by Woody Guthrie in 1940. Bruce Springsteen released a live version of it on Live/1975-85, in which he called it "about one of the most beautiful songs ever written. When making this video the words rang out like a message from our past that was never heard!
