This brought back many memories. I was there on that day (bunked off from school) I'm a huge fan. Even did my O level art based on one her album covers. Her attitude and approach really got me through school (for many years I was bullied for being different). Sadly i had to leave my Toyah artwork on my last day so that the bullies didn't catch on I was going (they were all planning to get me one last time). She was way ahead of her time and laid down the ground for the likes of madonna et al

I think you're right that Anthem did sort take a sanitised turn in places, but I think she rectified that with the brilliant and comparatively low key 'The Changeling'. Post 82 it became Toyah the personality rather than Toyah the band and never recaptured the magic.

Wonderful! I was there, only 5 years old! Best day of my life and so many cool memories - anybody else there that day? Drop me a line - I need to see some photos of that performance... If I remember correctly, she performed the song several times for the TV crew. Didn't it start raining on her at one point? Someone refresh my memory.....
