re HUMMIT. They opened a club in W Bridgewater MA in 1977 or so. The club was called Illiums. Their opening number of their first set was The Shape I'm In. They blew the place away as it was sort of a reunion gig cause they hadn't played together for a while. They played the club a number of times and packed the place every time.

Yes..HUMMIT. They use to say..If you can't sing it...HUMMIT. Love them..miss them. My brother, Steve DuBois ..bass. This band was THE best EVER. So many great memories of Hummit. Phil and Bruce did write it. Not a fan of Tower of Power's version ...but there's a German guy...Max Mutzke who did a great job. But..still not Phil and Hummit. There'll never be another Hummit...

My brother, Steve DuBois played bass for Hummit...and for this release. These guys were freakin amazing...and Steve...Harry...and Boby are still playing separately..and sometimes together if you're lucky. Cape Cod....Boston....Massachusetts ...

@JStover6151 Mama Lied was written by Phil Gentili & Bruce MacPherson. (C) 1980 Boston's Finest Music Publishing CO. A 45 rpm was cut at Studio B- Boston. Produced by Wayne Wadhams for Brainwaves Productions. Phil Sings lead vocals with Bruce on Hammond Organ and Background vocals. Harry French on drums and the great Bobby Dunlap on guitar. BTW . . Hummit was a late 70s' band with Kenny Dulong (guitar & vocals) , as well as Phil Gentili (vocals), Jack Peterson (Bass) and Bobby Dunlap

Is this the same song written and recorded by a Mass. band called Hummit? I believe is was sung by Phil Gentilli and featured Bobby Dunlap on lead guitar. I have an original vinal 45 in mint condition. I do hope it was Ellis Hall on lead vocals on the T.O.P. version. I'll have to check the 45 to see who actually penned the song. It is a Great Song.

@TGF87 It's a good track isn't it? I love Tower of Power, but they just aren't famous enough for me to share with most people, especially over here in England where about 2% of the population has actually heard of them!
