I actually think her voice is more beautiful than it was years ago. She has got to be one of the most brilliant performers of our era.

Thank you for posting this. It's been less than a year but already, I'm missing the Unrepentant Geraldines era. Such a breath of fresh air, such a joy to see and hear Tori in such high spirits and fine form, revealing such a wealth of wonderful new material.

I love this! Been a fan for over 20 years. Does anyone think that sinister piano piece reminds a little of Diamanda Galas? (Not vocals...just piano)

I love the idea of trouble and danger being a couple.

There's no question Tori is super talented, and when I heard the opening chord progression of Trouble's Lament, I had high hopes this album would be different from her last 4 - with their mostly sticky, predictable, adult contemporary, less alt. rock more muzak-like melodies. Alas, aside from the bass motif, the rest of the song meanders along very tepidly. Nothing, it seems, will ever match or recapture the incredible output and creative genius of her first three albums and their accompanying b-sides. Aside from a few exceptions, almost all her post TVAB work has been met with great excitement and high hopes only to be resigned to 'meh' category - tepid, pale shadows of what once was really the roaring fire of creativity. I guess no fire burns brightly forever but we still have the holy trinity - Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink and Boys for Pele - to lend comfort and inspiration.

Tori Amos, Troubles Lament. (Whew, my Ancestry and Beautiful as Ever, Two Spirit). This one is about do you let trouble into your soul, or not? Its up to you. It brings peace, on one or two levels of consciosness.

Great... pessimism and trouble is a choice...some people live it snd withoutbit is monotony. It's psychologically comforting. You have a choice as to whether or not to allow trouble or evil in your home or your mind, body or souk, now, soil... I think of Tori Amos, Crucify...every continent in the world, except Australua, lerhaps was"looking at me, (North America)... Cherokee had no chouce but to give the immigrant, greeny troublemakers a home at the expense of their own and many of their lives. "PRECIOUS THINGS, She's still running after Billy, ie, accountability in heaven for the pilgrim interlopers).
