Last night I had to hop a jet to Tunisia, so I had to run to catch the flight...This is DBS....and as promised, here is Tony Bennett and Bill Evans with a delicious performance of Coleman's "When In Rome"...Listen to that piano playing...although I always say that Art Tatum is the very best pianist that ever was, Bill Evans is pretty close lol...I love "Waltz for Debby" from this album, and Leonard Bernstein's "Some Other Time" and "Lucky to be me" ! Really, every tune on the two albums are definitive. I always love when a singer sings with just piano...most of the great singers have recorded albums like this, or at least a couple of songs with just piano. Ralph Sharon,Tony's pianist, is just great in accompanying his vocals. Frank Sinatra always referred to Tony as a compatriot because he was a saloon singer also. I always try to include some renditions from Tony's recordings , because I consider him on a mountain top all his own! He always stood by Judy Garland, even when things weren't going well, and he still has that singular expression and swag to his personality on stage. When we return from these words from "Firefly Hot Sauce" , we shall return with lots more music from the pen of Cy Coleman...yes Arne bring it in...oh it's lovely...hang up that beautiful piece of Murano glass on the left wall..thanks Arne...we'll be back.

The Bill Evans Trio ??? I doubt it, it's off Bill Evans and Tony Bennet............... Straight vocal and piano all the way. A ''classic'' :-)
