We move on to the next track of 'Strictly Inc.', "Charity Balls".

Lyrics:

You think you're safe from all that's gone before

No one can touch you now for evermore

It's out of sight but not out of your mind

You cannot lose it you can only pretend

This is the end my friend this is the end

You are a great example to us all

A pillar of society, that's for sure

But I hear those bones shake behind the cupboard door

I know the combination to free them once more

This is the end my friend this is the end.

I don't need no one to spy

Telescope or private eye

Cos I know, yes I've know it all the while

You go to goodwill functions, charity balls

You walk with royalty in presidential halls

But in your soul a voice is screaming to be heard

No matter how you try it cannot be deterred

This is the end my friend this is the end

I don't need no one to spy

Telescope or private eye

Cos I know, yes I've know it all the while

I hear your modest tones upon the radio

And I see you public face an all-convincing show

You know who you are and where you're coming from

You know what the future holds you cannot always run

This is the end my friend this is the end

I don't need no one to spy

Telescope or private eye

Cos I know, yes I've know it all the while

You think you're safe from all that's gone before

No one can touch you now for evermore

It may be hid but in spite of it all

It's there in neon letters ten feet tall

This is the end my friend this is the end

This is the end

This is the end

What a great song and nice to hear some guitar on some of Tony's work. From what I've heard of the album it's really good.

I like the line about the bones shaking behind the cupboard door, and we can hear a shaking noise

One of my faves from Strictly inc., even though it's a very even album. This one sounds like an ironic message to Phil, isn't it?

Hey Brian - no shit ! I've been listening to this since it came out on vinyl 18 years ago and worn out so many turntable needles you wouldn't believe it. Mr. Banks is the best !!!

I definitely recommend it. I have to say though I myself don't own an actual physical copy. I just have the mp3 files. I have heard though that all of Tony's main solo albums might get re-released. So, maybe both you and I can get it if that ever happens. As of right now the original CD can be pricey.

I seriously need to get this CD. This song along with "Walls of Sound" are some really good tracks but I just need to get this as a fan of GENESIS. Too bad I saw somewhere that its freaking expensive from a seller on a site...UGH!

@ksjoyjespeace I don't think he does. He was never credited for doing any guitar work on the album. Jack Hues and Daryl Stuermer are the ones credited for playing on the album.

Does Tony play 12-string guitar on this ?
