Our main character does the one thing he shouldn't here. The one thing that breaks the contract and will send him on a downward spiral. This is a damn good song. Damn great keyboard solo!!

Lyrics:

How strange I never noticed

Your eyes, or the colour of your hair.

It seems to me you grow more beautiful

In every way.

With every single passing day.

Love crept in unseen,

Found me wanting

I didn't even have the sense to know

What I was missing,

Or what I was soon to feel for

You the laughter,

You a reason to live.

You the object of all the love I can give,

And all that I possess.

You who meant nothing when I was younger.

It seems a memory from another life.

Did you ever think we'd meet this way,

Feel this way?

Did you really even care, oh?

Some changes I foresaw,

But not this one.

This feeling I would not have understood.

Strange to think

I might have lived my whole life without

You the laughter,

You a reason to live.

You the object of all the love I can give,

And all that I possess.

You who meant nothing when I was younger.

Apart from the vocal this is simply an excellent Genesis song. Glorious keyboards, with an element of sunrays piercing through gathering clouds.

I always admired Tony Banks in his progressive years, he was quite impressive and was a very important member of Genesis. But when Hackett left and Collins took the lead, I was really disappointed. His solo career is not was I was expected from such a talented guy. I prefer from far what Steve Hackett has accomplished after his departure from Genesis.

When the Mellotron choir comes in, it feels like it should be an epic from Selling England or the Lamb. That Banks still had that magic even after Hacket left Genesis and it (cue dismissive air quotes) "died" is a tesitment to the ingenuity of Genesis and its members.
