Grohl was never close to joining the Heartbreakers they asked him and he said no. He said he was flattered but he was doing his own thing.

Dave Grohl came really close to becoming the full time drummer for Tom Petty And The Heartbeakers before he formed Foo Fighters, that would have been one hell of an addition to the already epic lineup of the Heartbreakers

I would LOVE to post it, however, the producers of the program that this is from are pretty adamant about not allowing their "property" to be posted on-line. I've already had a couple of videos removed. I don't need another "strike". I'm just glad that this is still up.
