I love how everyone thinks that Vandoren is the king of reed brands. I've been through many different kinds of Vandoren reeds and have never had a very good time with them, Ricos on the other hand, those are nice for nearly everything.

You play on what sounds good and to hell with the brand name. Simple as that.

I've been a Vandoren loyalist for a while, as well as the rest of my saxophone studio. However, the Rico Reserves have made a huge impression on my fellow players as of late, and they know their reeds. I myself have not tried too many, but each one was rather full throughout. My friends also say that where you have maybe 1 or 2, maybe 3 good - performance quality reeds you can work on out of a box of 10 blue box vandorens, you will get up to an 80% turnout of good - performance quality reeds.

Why is a Rico Reeds artist so good at saxophone? Does he use Vandorins?

Technically, DA-GA is the correct syllable for woodwinds and it's much more difficult to do evenly
