No Answers, new Song by Thursday from their new album No Devolución.

Lyrics:

Can you feel it in the dead of night?

It's all around but can't be seen.

Can you hear it in the parking lot?

It only speaks when spoken to.

Can you find it in the marathon?

The more you take the more you leave.

Can you see them in a pane of glass?

You know them but they don't know you.

I can see it now:

What gets lost but never found?

What could fasten two,

Yet only touches one?

Who could make it hurt,

As much as it did before?

(You could tie a string

Around the place where it used to show.)

I can hear the ocean when I say your name:

In the yellow hem of the sea's blue skirt.

You're the last asleep on a one-way train:

It's been eight years if it's been a day.

You can see her in a pane of glass:

You think you know her but you don't.

You share a family but you don't share a name:

Some things run deeper than blood.

No answers. No answers when you're not around.

What got better about Thrice? Everything. Everyone says "Old this band or that is better"--nostalgia is a powerful thing. But that band (like this one) truly evolved. In my opinion, Google those bands that you still listen to their 90s or 20s albums of. Download everything since then, and bask in the qualities they have that demanded your attention the first time you heard their style... and do it to better sound quality.

Maybe about learning to being open to change and open to not having answers to mental dilemmas. But in that realization one becomes present and open to experience and can operate more intelligently, because now that "you're around" you can see what what action you need take. Where as before we were emotionally not around, and maybe life doesn't reward that behavior. That's what I get from it.

To me it means when I shut down, in the sense of not feeling my emotions and the situation at hand, whatever it may be. There are no answers, and I get nowhere. But maybe to him, it's not quite the same context, but similar underlying message?

I love these guys.. Their lyrics are so poetic. This is actually the band I turn to for inspiration. My older brother and I saw their last show.. It depresses me to hear they broke up.

@fireflie86 According to an interview, this song is about trying to maintain a friendship after a relationship is over. Geoff met his wife of 8 years on Warped Tour and it has slowly been deteriorating. This song is his way of expressing that, even though love is gone, he still struggles to build a friendship with his ex-wife. ("it's been 8 years if it's been a day," "you share a family but you don't share a name...") Such a lovely and poetic way to portray such a struggle.

This song sounds amazing, but it is confusing me, it sounds like a riddle. Anyone know what it is about?

Love the atmospheric-feel to this song. Has a "Circuits of Fever" feel to it and to quote Ron Burgundy, "And in no way is that depressing." Incredible song. The Thursday boys have done it once again. Favorite band of all-time, sorry Every Time I Die.
