I recorded this song previously (much faster than this version though) and also covered it in 7 free lessons. But people kept asking me for tablature so this version is how I (finally) tabbed it out.

Complete tab (5 pages) is available through my website

http://www.daddystovepipe.com

Cost : €7.50 (about $10) for two tabs (this song and another of your choice) so that's two for the price of one!

Go to my website

http://www.daddystovepipe.com

and you'll be enlightened

Here's a link to the lesson that accompanies the tablature; I explain some of the diffuculties in detail with reference to the exact measure numbers in the tab.

Mister Goodbar

It's a fantastic tutorial this tune by Daddystove. It took me nearly 18 months to play it confidently. I'd had a 20 year break from the guitar and blues playing and this got me going again. I still keep coming back to the tutorial and finding new things I'd missed or done different. I just love the arrangement.

Hi DaddyStove, it's taken me ten months to nail 'Thumpin' - thanks sooo much for the tutorial. Went to visit mt 23 year old son in Germany last week (British Army) one of his mates had a guitar so I just belted out "Thumpin" all casual like but maaaaan, they were impressed I have to say - he called me when I got back to the UK and said all his buddies thought I was soooo Coool!!! - so thanks DaddyStove!!

Hey just wanted to say I really like the changes in this song. You've got an interesting fingerpicking style. Good stuff.

ok larry, I'll be good to you ;-) this figured maple guitar has been made by luthier John Gréven in 1987, he still builds but not this model (the FX) The bird fretmarkers were one of his favorite designs; John is known for his remarkable detailed inlays. The wings were highlighted with jeweller's ink (has faded now due to cleaning and playing)

Love the flame maple version of this song..Very bright sound. Course the 1st version I loved too. It took a little effort to learn... your lessons nicely break it into manageable chunks... thank you so much. It's become one of my standards at the guitar stores whenever I pick up a new instrument... you know how that goes ; )

@TempoJunkee There are so many lessons about this song I don't blame you for overlooking it ... the lesson in question, with the walking bass, is part 2 (see the related video box)
