Memory was on target. The liner notes from the Golden Age of Wireless re-issue state "When I came out with this song as a single in 1982 and sang it onstage on TOTP I don't think many people knew what I was on about!" And the big positive there is that it looking that up got the CD back in heavy rotation around here!

Yes, you're probably right Brian. I believe the album that Windpower was released from was recorded by Dolby in 1981 but not released by the record company until the following year. Whether this single was released prior to the album, I'm not sure.

You sure that was from 1981? I am almost positive that Dolby's performance on TOTP was in 1982. I was recording the episode on audio cassette and while the cassette has long ago slipped away, I am almost sure I remember it being dated 1982.
