highschool AFI - 1991 up to Very Proud of Ya and Answer That; those years werent really goth/horror punk. Most people who are talking about old AFI are usually talking about Open Your Mouth and Shut Your Eyes, Black Sails, All Hallows, A Fire Inside, and sometimes Drowning. Its more my own way of referring to AFI before '97

Their music has evolved, if you at least listen to their new stuff, you can tell that in most of their songs they still play with some of their roots. Now they are older, more matured, and with that, their music has evolved and their sound has evolved, but they haven't really changed. You should only be considered a true fan if you like their old stuff and their new stuff, that is how being a fan works, you support the band no matter what.
