Compare this sound to digital or even original vinyl. This is from AM radio. It was mastered somehow for best sound, different from consumer releases, and I'd like to know the story. A couple years ago radio switched to a lame digital source and you don't hear it this way now.

I've got the original (well, it was my dad's but hey ho) vinyl 45 version of this and to me, it does sound the same as this. In the UK it was on Reprise Records and the B-side is 'The City Never Sleeps at Night'. Great song. But obviously now I'll have to go and dig it out, play it just to be sure and then find out it's different....7 years ago
