Them Crooked Vultures "Gunman" guitar lesson. The next Riff of the Day uses a trio of pedals to achieve Josh Homme's sound, a Catalinbread SFT overdrive, EH Q-TRON+ envelope filter and a JHS Mini Foot Fuzz. The riff opens with a descending group of octaves which are made easier with the drop D tuning. The main riff kicks on the envelope filter and the bass and guitar lock in tight with a heavy disco beat. The chorus goes back to the octaves like the intro and uses a fuzz to keep the envelope filter open longer.
