Lyrics:
Here nowadays
it's no longer just a little town
When nobody knows
what is really going down
And if you think you do
you just formed yourself a little alliance
with Sunday's early risers
coming together for a little confidence
Colored kids out on the street
hang around until defeat
triggers more than a chance
for trying out their new slang
And those in power won't ignore
their politics will underscore
the flaws of those
with nothing left to lose
Here nowadays
newspapers print more than asides
on how this time around
we don't even see the landslide
Well ain't he a wiser man
who says there's only going to be one
if we're not gonna take a rest from trying
to stop what has to run
And don't you see time won't reveal
if we got the fairest deal
as you don't know what comes out
of something you did not choose
So writers here are put to the test
Singers know they should protest
but all that comes out
is another lonesome blues
When all hope disappears
think you better understand that great ideas
only grow when there's something
you just don't know
Rear lights fading out in the dark
Now I know why
they always make me feel good
Here nowadays
it's no longer just a little town
cause nobody knows
what the hell is going down
