@Zeitgeist74 Recorded April 5, 1968 in New York during The Yardbirds' final studio session. "Avron" was the name of a guy that the band met while on tour in Florida, and he inspired the band to write this song about him. This features both Keith Relf and Jim McCarty on vocals.

this is definitely the Yardbirds. unfortunately, it's only available on the long out of print "Cumular Limit". Nowadays the CD goes about $50-$100 used. However, I found mine from some online Asian store for $20 new (Monitor Records if anyone was curious, they might have some other copies), so if you try hard enough, you may be able to find it.

You looked here! It is the Yardbirds. Look for the whole story in the Cumular Limit booklet.

Every place I've looked about the story behind this song, and the Yardbirds recording this, I turn up empty. You sure this is the Yardbirds?

if they had stayed together Led Zeppelin would not have existed.

Well, the thing was that Relf and McCarty didn't want to experiment with new sounds the way Page did, coz they wanted to play acoustic folk instead, and Dreja was getting disinterested in the music world. The break was sadly inevitable.

I've always wondered how the Yardbirds would have progressed musically had they not broken up. This song proves they were still at the top when it came to experimenting for new sounds . what a rare classic- I wish it was available on cd !
