From the album "Tommy".

Written by Pete Townshend.

Tommy:

Welcome to the Camp,

I guess you all know why we're here.

My name is Tommy

and I became aware this year

If you want to follow me,

you've got to play pinball.

And put in your earplugs

put on your eyeshades

you know where to put the cork

Hey you getting drunk, so sorry!

I've got you sussed.

Hey you smoking Mother Nature!

This is a bust!

Hey hung up old Mr. Normal,

Don't try to gain my trust!

'Cause you ain't gonna follow me any of those ways

Although you think you must

Guests:

We're not gonna take it

We're not gonna take it

We're not gonna take it

We're not gonna take it

We're not gonna take it

Never did and never will

We're not gonna take it

Gonna break it, gonna shake it,

let's forget it better still

Tommy: Now you can't hear me,

your ears are truly sealed.

You can't speak either,

your mouth is filled.

You can't see nothing,

and pinball completes the scene.

Here comes Uncle Ernie to guide you to

Your very own machine.

Guests:

We're not gonna take it

We're not gonna take it

We're not gonna take it

We're not gonna take it

We're not gonna take it

Never did and never will

Don't want no religion

And as far as we can tell

We ain't gonna take you

Never did and never will

We're not gonna take you

We forsake you

Gonna rape you

Let's forget you better still.

Tommy:

See me.

Feel me.

Touch me.

Heal me.

Listening to you,

I get the music.

Gazing at you,

I get the heat.

Following you,

I climb the mountains.

I get excitement at your feet.

Right behind you,

I see the millions.

On you,

I see the glory.

From you,

I get opinions.

From you,

I get the story.

Listening to you,

I get the music.

Gazing at you,

I get the heat.

Following you,

I climb the mountains.

I get excitement at your feet.

Right behind you,

I see the millions.

On you,

I see the glory.

From you,

I get opinions.

From you,

I get the story.

Listening to you,

I get the music.

Gazing at you,

I get the heat.

Following you,

I climb the mountains.

I get excitement at your feet.

(FADE:)

Right behind you,

I see the millions.

On you,

I see the glory.

From you,

I get opinions.

From you,

I get the story.

I ate some mushrooms, which I thought were regular mushrooms, but learned about ten minutes later that they were special magical mushrooms. Suffice to say, I had a large dosage, which enabled me to make contact with the spiritual realm. I now know all secrets of the universe, and you can know these secrets too without having to take the mushrooms. :) (Here's a teaser of what I have discovered: "In Spiritual Realm, time and space don't exist. Everything happens simultaneously)

I was fortunate enough to see The Who in Houston in 1975 when I was 21 years old. It was the best concert I ever saw in my entire life and it's not close. Better than Zepplin. Better than Floyd. Better than the Stones. This song was the highlight of the evening as far as I'm concerned.

The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, Patti Smith, the Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors and Jim Morrison, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Otis Redding, Aretha -- even the Dave Clark Five. Were we all dreaming that these incredible, endlessly creative and innovative artists all existed for a time -- all at once? How could it be? I haven't even mentioned every single one that qualifies. And yes, I remember...."we're not gonna take it." We gave a shit about what was happening around us. What have we got today? What? Don't get me started......

Someone brought up 'The Wall' ...in regard to 'Tommy'...They both involved traumatic incidents from WWII, and the impact on the psyche of a Child. We all have Bricks in our Walls. It's about tearing those Walls down. Tear down the Wall.../ we're not going to take it.They both have obvious reference to an 'induced experience' as the catalyst for awakening, and triumph.

The Who is not the only band to go beyond normal consciousnesses but it's one of the very few.

The boys of The Who made such a super-classic album with Tommy. Goodness! They were pioneers of rock!

I think I just had a religious experience. The Who the only band to go beyond normal consciousnesses.
