It was only really Peter Solowka who was in the Wedding Present but I shouldn't arguing with someone with such fine taste in music! I saw them play a couple of times. A messy experience, with more alcohol spilled than drunk, from memory.

No, it was around 1991 or 92 at the earliest as I was on that recording and I joined the original line up in 1991 but yes, definitely more interesting than the Smiths!

Funny, I'm the original accordionist of The Ukrainians and am on that recording. Its the first time I noticed a grammatical error at the beginning "Myla ya prosto zhartuvala z tebe". It means "Love I was joking about you" but Len sings it in the feminine. As Len is a man he should have sung "Myla ya prosto zhartuvav z tebe", not "zhartuvala". I was never a Smiths fan myself, but the Smiths project was innovative. I did the words for the Ukrainian version of The Queen is Dead.
