Explain the lyrics to me....for wouldn't it fit his agenda better if he was to sing "The Twelfth of Forever', say, as opposed to "The Twelfth of Never"? "Never" seems to imply that he would never want her.

You ask how much I need you, must I explain? I need you, oh my darling, like roses need rain. You ask how long I'll love you; I'll tell you true: Until the twelfth of never, I'll still be loving you. Hold me close, never let me go. Hold me close, melt my heart like April snow.

On this day on 1967 {January 22nd} Johnny Mathis appeared on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'... He performed a medley of his hits; "It's Not For Me To Say" {#5 in 1957}, "Twelfth Of Never" {#9 in 1957}, "Wild Is The Wind" {#22 in 1958}, "Chances Are" {#1 for 1 week in 1957}, and "Wonderful Wonderful!" {#14 in 1957}... R.I.P. Mr. Sullivan {1901 - 1974} and Mr. Mathis turned 77 years old this past September 30th...

I was born in late 1960 and the lovely Marika was a late 60's child so I had the pleasure of listening to teenage uncles playing all the late 50's and early 60's sounds but we both love the music from those eras as you can see on this channel. Thank you for a great comment and have a great weekend. Best wishes from myself and Marika.

Robert oh

RockFur2 I lived thru it all. They were the greatest ever time of my life and as I listened to the songs of the 50's & 60's it showers me with absolute beautiful memories deeply etched in the deep recess of my mind. Gosh! You would too, if you had lived during those magical, wonderful, wonderful years. God bless

We were teenagers in the 70's and 80's and enjoyed the music of the time but we have always had a love of the 50's and 60's sounds. There's nothing wrong with being "old" lol. In fact life gets more fun the older you get. Enjoy :))

Then so must we :) It is always good to see that others enjoy the old classics. It's fun getting old listening to songs like this! Thank you for listening and commenting :)
